Projecting Reason
I just finished reading Sam Harris' short book, "Letter to a Christian Nation." So far, everything I've read by Mr. Harris impresses me. I have never been a religious person, but lived much of my life in "religious tolerance" mode. What's the harm? People all around me base their lives on erroneous information, making bad decisions, but everything typically works out.
After reading this book, I've grown less tolerant of erroneous information. We can use science to verify the claims of others. The problem is that too many people think that science is hard. Our educational system has failed them, and left them innumerate (mathematically challenged). The fact is, viewing the world scientifically is mostly applying common sense. In this blog, I hope to shine some light on this subject.
A good starting point to promote scientific thinking comes from the "They Might Be Giants" song "Put It To The Test".
